GWGGO Commits $12,000 to Second Alarmers!

The Greater Willow Grove Charities committed to purchasing $12,000 worth of critical lifesaving equipment for Second Alarmers over the next three years.  Over the last 40 years the group has raised funds for our area needs by holding the Greater Willow Grove Golf Open (GWGGO).  The GWGGO Committee chose to support Second Alarmers by funding the purchase of EZ-IO Bone Guns and accesories for each of the 12 Paramedic Units that serve the Greater Willow Grove Area.

The small hand-held guns are starting to be placed in service and most of our practitioners already don’t know how they ever got along without them.  The tool is used as a back-up means of establishing an IV line in patients that are too difficult to reach a vein in the traditional manner such as when the patient is  dehydrated, diabetic or under extreme trauma. The bone drill can be used to quickly insert an intraosseous needle directly into the bone to dispense fluids, medications or sugar.

Pictured below, members from Second Alarmers gratefully accept a $3,000 donation from the Greater Willow Grove Charities.  Left to right; SARS Paramedic Bruce Chew, GWGGO Sponser Hatboro Federal Savings John Douglas, SARS Paramedic Captain Brad Nash, GWGGO President John DiMarzio, GWGGO Matt Echelmeier, GWGGO Bob Felte, SARS Chief of Operations Fred Trasatti, Jr., GWGGO Roger Myers, GWGGO Jason Schmidt, SARS Paramedic Anthony McGrail, GWGGO Sponsor Hatboro Federal Savings Joe Tryon, SARS EMT Jen Shertz, SARS Paramedic Alicia Connors.
